Q3: Is Zimlancers only for Zimbabwean clients and freelancers?
A: Zimlancers primarily focuses on connecting Zimbabwean talent with local clients to facilitate easier, verified, and locally-compliant transactions. However, verified international clients interested in hiring Zimbabwean talent are also welcome.
For Clients (Hiring Talent)
Q4: How do I post a job and find a freelancer?
A:
- Post a Job: Click "Post a Project" and clearly describe the scope, required skills, budget, and deadline.
- Review Bids: Freelancers will submit proposals. Review their profiles, ratings, portfolios, and bids.
- Interview & Hire: Chat with your top candidates, clarify details, and formally hire the best fit.
- Fund Escrow: Deposit the project fee into the secure Escrow account before the freelancer starts work.
Q5: How does the Escrow system protect me?
A: The Escrow system ensures your payment is held securely by Zimlancers and is only released to the freelancer after you have reviewed and approved the completed work. This eliminates the risk of paying for unfinished or unsatisfactory work.
Q6: What if the freelancer delivers poor quality work?
A: If you are not satisfied, you should:
- Try to resolve the issue directly with the freelancer through the platform's chat.
- If an agreement cannot be reached, you can initiate a formal Dispute. Our Trust & Safety team will mediate the conflict based on the agreed-upon contract, communication history, and deliverables, to ensure a fair outcome (which may include a full or partial refund).
Q7: What are the client fees?
A: Clients are generally charged a small processing fee when funding a project or withdrawing unused funds. The exact percentage will be displayed before you finalize the transaction.
For Freelancers (Providing Services)
Q8: How do I sign up and get verified on Zimlancers?
A:
- Register: Create an account and complete your profile, highlighting your skills, experience, and portfolio.
- Verification (KYC): You must submit identity documents (e.g., National ID or Passport) for our Know Your Customer (KYC) process. This is mandatory for platform security and payment compliance.
- Start Bidding: Once approved, you can start searching for projects and submitting proposals.
Q9: What are the freelancer service fees?
A: Zimlancers charges a competitive service fee (a percentage) on the money you earn through the platform. This fee covers payment processing, platform maintenance, customer support, and the Escrow system guarantee. The fee is deducted only after you successfully complete a project and the client releases payment.
Q10: How and when do I get paid?
A:
- Client Funds Escrow: The client deposits the full payment into Escrow when you are hired.
- Complete Work: You submit the final work to the client.
- Client Approves: The client reviews and approves the work.
- Payment Released: Zimlancers releases the funds from Escrow to your Zimlancers account.
- Withdraw: You can withdraw your earnings to your linked local bank account, Paypal, or other specified mobile money/payment providers.
Q11: How long does it take to withdraw funds?
A: Withdrawal processing times vary depending on the chosen method:
- Internal ZWL/Local Currency Transfers: Typically processed within 1–2 business days.
- International Transfers/USD: May take 3–5 business days due to external banking processing times.
Q12: What must I do to avoid "scope creep"?
A: To avoid scope creep (when a project's requirements expand beyond the initial agreement):
- Be Clear: Define the project deliverables, deadlines, and revision limits explicitly in your initial proposal.
- Use the Platform: Keep all communication regarding changes within the Zimlancers chat.
- Formal Change Orders: If the client requests significant new work, inform them it is a change in scope, and require a formal milestone or project add-on with appropriate funding before starting the new work.
